Fjellmo sits 1,100 metres above sea level, where the snow can lie until June. The lodge follows the slope and lets the snow build up against its north side as insulation; the long south-facing windows catch the low winter sun.
The heart of the building is a sunken lounge around an open fire, where hikers dry their socks and plan the next day.
