Studio
A studio of twenty-four, in two cities on the coast.
Vatn was founded in Bergen in 2004 by Ingrid Vatne and Marit Solberg. Our Tromsø studio opened in 2015, when the library competition brought us north and we decided to stay.
Weather first
Sun, wind, snow and rain decide more about a building than any drawing does.
Timber where we can
Two in three of our buildings are made of Norwegian timber, most of it spruce and pine.
Built with the people who use it
Children drew the school; librarians planned the library. We listen before we draw.

Architect, Tromsø studio
Three to eight years of experience, fluent in Norwegian or English, and happy to spend time on site in all weathers. Start date by agreement.
Landscape architect, Bergen studio
For school yards, courtyards and coastal paths. You will work closely with Ole and the architects from the first sketch.
Summer internship 2027
Six weeks for students in their fourth or fifth year. Applications open in January.
